Cave of Hazar Merd, Kurdistan, Iraq

We visited this breathtaking place by car, but to get really high up you must carry the way by foot (that's why I am wearing those sexy shoes, borrowed from my cousin, haha). It is a bit slippery to climb, but definitely worth it! Hazar Merd means 1000 men, and it is considered 2nd oldest cave in Kurdistan. Ancestors of human beings (Neanderthals) have been found there - these bodies date back to 50 000 years BC, according to a Kurdish Tourism page. Always when visiting touristy sights, I find a lot of rubbish lying around. What a pitty for such pretty places we have in Kurdistan - makes you feel like people don't appreciate their land and nature. Nevertheless, if you visit, you can find this place only 3 km away from the city of Suleimanyah.
